U.S. Rep. Vern Buchanan is winning lots of national attention lately for a call to force final health care negotiations among top Democrats into the public arena.

The Longboat Key Republican has been praised by Republican leaders on national television and last week landed an interview on Fox News' "On The Record" with Greta Van Susteren to talk about his plan.

It all stems from Buchanan filing a resolution to force health care negotiations to be televised on the public affairs cable channel C-SPAN, instead of behind closed doors as Democrats are doing now.
