Recently the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services' (CMS) put out a really nice looking brochure telling seniors about all the good things they would receive under the Democrat's new health care law. The problem is, most of the information in the brochure is not true.
The brochure doesn't tell seniors that millions of them are soon going to lose their Medicare Advantage plan and millions of other seniors will be paying more for their prescription drug coverage, but receive no direct benefit from those higher premiums.
The fancy brochure says "your guaranteed Medicare benefits won't change-whether you get them through Original Medicare or a Medicare Advantage Plan." In fact, the administration's own actuary at the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services says seniors who use Medicare Advantage will lose benefits as a result of this bill. That is a big concern to the 30,000 seniors in Florida's 13th District who are currently enrolled in this popular program. It also seems outrageous for HHS to claim that a bill which cuts Medicare by $500 billion dollars will actually "preserve and strengthen" Medicare.
It's obvious that Democrats realize how unpopular their health care law is with the American people. Unfortunately they feel the need to produce pure propaganda to try to convince people that it's a good program - we all know otherwise. And it's especially disturbing that the propaganda is directed to our seniors. To top it all off, the propaganda brochure is paid for with Medicaid funds.
Once again, our seniors are getting a bad deal. They deserve better.
