President Obama will hold a bipartisan meeting with Congressional leaders this Thursday to discuss health care reform. I hope this meeting will be truly bipartisan because we do need to address the skyrocketing cost of health care in this country.
Unfortunately, the signals coming from the Obama Administration are mixed, at best. The President and Democrat leaders seem insistent of pushing ahead with a big-government solution that the American people clearly have rejected.
In fact, the New York Times has reported that "President Obama will put forward comprehensive health care legislation intended to bridge differences between Senate and House Democrats ahead of a summit meeting with Republicans next week."
It makes me wonder why the President wants to meet with Republicans. Clearly, if the President wants to have a truly bipartisan conversation on health care with Republicans, the Democrats must listen to the American people and scrap their massive government takeover of our health care. I hope the President reconsiders his decision to push forward with a Democrat-only health care bill.
The American people deserve better.
