America Speaking Out

The American people are angry. Career politicians in Washington, D.C. aren't listening. The new health care law that grows government, increases taxes and cuts Medicare and the failed trillion dollar stimulus package are just a couple examples of legislation that was passed despite vocal opposition from the most people.

I recently hosted an "America Speaking Out" town hall to give my constituents an opportunity for their voices to be heard. It was the 21st town hall I have held during the 111th Congress, but the first forum for the sole purpose of getting ideas for a new policy agenda for Congress.

The best ideas don't come from politicians. They come from the people we are elected to represent. So I wasn't surprised to get a lot of good suggestions, including an investment tax credit for small businesses to reward and encourage economic growth.

Many of the nearly 200 people who attended my event are clearly frightened about the direction our country is taking and offered suggestions to reduce spending and reverse the rapid growth of government, and clean up Congress.

As always, I was impressed by the thoughtful and respectful comments I received and moved by the passion and emotion with which they were presented.

It isn't too late to participate. You can share your ideas by visiting my congressional website at Buchanan.house.gov and clicking on the "America Speaking Out" link.

I want input from all of my constituents, whether you are Republican, Democrat or Independent.

I will offer the suggestions I receive to House leaders who are working on a new policy agenda for 2011.

I look forward to your input.

Congressman Buchanan, I cannot believe that Muslims are allowed to stop traffic and pray in the streets of NYC!! Where are the police to arrest these people? I dare say that if I would stop in the middle of traffic and kneel and pray, I would be arrested and thought to be a little crazy!! Why is this allowed for Muslims and not Christians, Jews, Mormoms or others not of the Muslim religion? Preferential treatment because we don't want to "upset them"? Is this their way to say "we are just Muslims that want to build a Mosque here, so when the Mosque is built WHERE WE WANY IT, close to 9/11, we will pray there and not block traffic" This should NEVER be allowed and the Mosque should not be allowed to be built close to the 9/11 massacre. That would be a slap in the face for victims and their loved ones. Regards, and keep up the good work, Mrs. Beverly Neill, Englewood, Florida (Your District, and your Supporter that just voted for you again.)

When you voted for HR 3183 did you know that you would be appropriating $300 million to help Harry Reid get re-elected?

Sir, you need to read Saul Alinsky: Rule For Radicals.

Don't you understand that we cannot trust this Congress with our money? ANY money.
