Last week, the Republicans in Congress presented a motion to repeal the individual mandate in the Democrats' health care law. I voted in favor of this motion for one very important reason - the American people continue to oppose the health care law that was pushed through Congress by the Administration and Speaker Pelosi. Even though the motion was defeated, we will continue to fight on behalf of the people.
The American people have made it clear that they do not want Obamacare and a government takeover of health care. The individual mandate provision of the health care law is one of the most unfair provisions - it forces everyday Americans to buy government-approved health insurance or pay a tax if they don't, yet illegal immigrants are exempted from the mandate.
The people have made it clear - they want meaningful reform that will be fair to all and lower costs while giving each person more choices. The Democrats, in their arrogant power grab, continue to push their liberal agenda and continue to expand the reach of federal government into our private lives. We do not need this "change".
